Suggested Use: Moisten face and neck with warm water. Apply a small amount of facial scrub with fingertips and massage gently into your skin, avoiding the sensitive areas near your eyes. - Speaking of the Clay products, one Member called this week to express disappointment that Perry A ~ includes parabens in her lotions and cosmetic creams. I called Perry and asked her about the circumstances behind her use of them. She explained that parabens are used as a preservative in cosmetics to protect them from microbial growth . . . to protect consumers and also to maintain product integrity. In spite of any shortcomings of parabens, Perry feels like there isn't a better alternative available yet although there are some new developments that may be available soon. In the meantime, Perry does keep her use of parabens to a bare minimum to maximize the safety and shelf life of her cosmetic products. I have presented these comments in the spirit of open disclosure. The following description is also provided:

What are parabens? Parabens are the most widely used preservatives in cosmetic products. Chemically, parabens are esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid. The most common parabens used in cosmetic products are methylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben. Typically, more than one paraben is used in a product, and they are often used in combination with other types of preservatives to provide preservation against a broad range of microorganisms. The use of mixtures of parabens allows the use of lower levels while increasing preservative activity.

Living Clay Body Lotion . . . On a recent beach vacation, we took a day trip to Chincoteague National Seashore, Virginia. We left the car in the parking area and walked a nature trail through a bog area that had wild horses, beautiful birds and a lot of mosquitoes. Body Souffle for Insect Bites . . . . I got bitten on my toe the other evening when leaving work. I could feel the sting, and by the time I got home my toe was red and swollen. Since I work on Bat Cave Road where David was stung by a scorpion a few weeks ago, I was a bit dismayed. I didn't have any Living Clay to apply, so used what I had on hand . . . Nature's Body Souffle that contains Living Clay. It did the job! It drew out the toxins, whatever kind they were. The next evening I was stung on my other foot, probably by the same type of insect. I had the same reaction, but this time my whole foot swelled up. I had taken some CMO cream home with me. I applied that several times, and it took the swelling away.
